These are the initial ideas we had for the film poster. The 1st example is a split screen with the two key characters of the film on the foreground of the poster. One side has Mr Smith (the teacher) and the other has Lukasz (friend of Mr Smith; foreign exchange student). The split screen is symbolic to represent the conflicting “Viewpoints” and the “actual portrayal” of society. Of which consists of water condensed glass layer (as the background) over the two key characters (looking in opposite directions) of the film. This links into the tag-line of 'Ignorance is bliss' as people acknowledge what is truly occurring amongst them in their own society but yet choose to ignore it/turn a 'blind eye'.
The title is split across the two characters to emphasise the contrasting
this notion even further. The names of the characters are only on the drawing of the poster to signify who would be on the poster. The billing block is placed at the bottom, archetypal style of layout of movie posters. Also, the boxes above the characters are just to signify what would be the background pictures that would be behind the characters. Furthermore, the tag-line is positioned centrally at the top, not the most typical place the tag-line to be placed, but has been used effectively on famous posters such as the one of the 'Gladiator' film.
